Beth Zonderman: Web & Print

Really good work, really fast, with no drama.

Good: Since 1996 I've done design as well as production, in a variety of settings. That means my designs are beautiful, professional, appropriate, and look as good printed or coded as they did in presentation.

Fast: Years of experience have honed my skills. I work efficiently and deliver files that don't need to be fixed. And I'm an absolutely scrupulous time-keeper, so in the end my clients save money.

No drama: It isn't about me. My job is to communicate your message to your audience in a way they will understand, and that promotes your professional image.

Professionally, I am survivor of frontier eras. I began as an advertising designer in post-revolution Czech Republic, where designers did their own trapping and delivered postscript files for output to film. Printers called the shots, account managers had only a basic understanding of capitalism, and large western corporations were ready to conquer the market. A few years later, when I started designing websites, a third of the population still didn't have telephones. Web designers coded, wrote scripts, solicited clients and tried to convince programmers from the Soviet educational system of the need for attractive, usable interfaces.

That all changed at blinding speed and my trial by fire has proven invaluable. By a stoke of monumentally bad luck, I moved back to the US on September 7, 2001. With no professional contacts in the Bay Area, I managed to weather the 2001 recession and develop a freelance practice. Already, in the wake of the subprime mortgage bust, a few clients tried to save money by bringing my work in-house. They've returned, realizing that doing really good work once costs less then doing mediocre work multiple times.

My broad skill set and ability to work under unusual pressures have served my clients well and kept them coming back to me over the years. Go back to the home page to read testimonials from my clients.
